Mill Road Station Iron Removal Facility

Northfield, New Jersey

Project Description

This project involved the construction of a water treatment plant (WTP) at the existing Mill Road Station site. The facility includes new chemical application facilities, pressure filtration using catalytic oxidation media, and backwash wastewater and sludge holding tanks for storage and settling. The project also included decanting backwash wastewater to recycle the supernatant, discharging settled solids to the sanitary sewer, installing a new chlorine contact detention main, and providing a new well pump, motor, variable frequency drive (VFD), and natural gas-powered generator. The new filtration process was integrated into the existing process flow stream upstream of the air stripper.
