Aqua Pennsylvania Shenango Valley WTP Pretreatment Process Improvements – Phase 1

Aqua Pennsylvania required improvements to the pretreatment process to support raw water treatment reliability, operational flexibility, and long-term treatment performance at the Shenango Valley Water Treatment Plant. The project included construction of a new raw water contact basin, chemical equipment building, raw water piping relocations, powdered activated carbon (PAC) systems, potassium permanganate systems, chemical duct banks, electrical improvements, process piping, and supporting infrastructure improvements. The work also included cast-in-place structures and Maintenance of Plant Operations (MOPO) considerations to support phased construction within an active treatment environment.

Project implementation required coordination between new pretreatment infrastructure and ongoing treatment operations while integrating chemical systems, process improvements, utility interfaces, and facility modifications.

The phased implementation approach enabled the integration of pretreatment improvements while maintaining ongoing plant operations, minimizing disruptions, and supporting long-term treatment reliability.
